Someone put an ebook on Amazon called "Lust In Darkness" by Eli Easton. This is NOT my book. Just a head's up. I'm trying to figure out what I can do about it. Here's the book, FYI.
New in Audio: Merry Christmas, Mr. Miggles!
"Merry Christmas, Mr. Miggles" is now out in audio! HERE'S THE AUDIBLE LINK.
The narrator is Tristan Wright, who also did my "Unwrapping Hank" and "Superhero". He has such a young, quirky voice, perfect for Toby! Take a listen to the sample at the link.

THE VALUE OF WHOLESOMENESS IN STORY TELLING
When I set out to pen a story, I look to include wholesomeness as often as possible. While it is partially because it represents an ideal—and what better way to achieve escapism and entertain ourselves than with the ideal—but because “goodness” is something most of us naturally identify with and strive for. The friendship that Harper and Stick share in Heartifact is based upon “goodness” and it shines through in a number of places in the story. I hope you enjoy reading Heartifact as much as I enjoyed writing it.
EXCERPT:
After being away, his kitchen seemed foreign to him, and dismay swept his mien when he remembered he might not have coffee in the freezer. He opened the door and riffled through the contents proudly displaying freezer burn. No coffee. He sighed and closed the door as his phone rang. He looked at the caller ID and was relieved to see it wasn’t Donny.
“Hey, Stick.”
“Welcome back, Harp! You up for grub?”
Stick, whose real name was Maggie, piloted remotely operated underwater vehicles, or ROVs. Hence the nickname “Stick.” He’d met her on his first internship dig and she’d quickly become his best friend. She was easy and comfortable, and could read his mind; she knew when he needed silence and when he needed to laugh. She was a woman without a vagenda, and occasionally made him wish he liked the opposite sex.
“Coffee,” he grunted.
“Grab your astrolabe and chart a course to that illusive island known as my car.”
“Can I wear a towel?”
“Sure. I’ll protect you.”
He smiled to himself as he terminated the call and went to get dressed.
“Whoa! You wear dark well!”
Harper snorted as he climbed into the convertible and kissed Stick’s cheek. “I see you managed to protect your lily-white ass from the sun.”
She shrugged as she put the car in gear and sped off without so much as a gander in her rearview mirror. “What can I say? I am the undersea drone you’re looking for.”
Thank Poseidon, she didn’t pilot ROVs the same way she drove a car. He imagined a fifteen-fish pile-up on the Bimini Road and suddenly chuckled to himself.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
They rode in companionable silence until they reached John O’Groats on Pico Boulevard. Graced with a rare parking space in front of the place, she crammed the car against the curb at a slant.
“You may want to straighten it out.”
“You got something to say about my parking?” she demanded as she hopped out.
Harp couldn’t help but grin as he got out of the car. “Not a chance. I like my head on my shoulders.”
She put an arm around his waist and looked up at him, her green eyes bright in the morning sun. “Smart man.”
He put an arm around her shoulders and guided her inside. The wait for a table was almost an hour and they opted to sit at the counter. Harper perused the menu and decided on Huevos O’Groats. Three months of Aussie Vegemite had nearly killed him.
They ordered food and Stick handed the menus to the waiter. “How was it?”
“I didn’t think I could detest sediment more than I already did.”
She grinned. “Do you know something I don’t know? I mean, how do you propose to avoid it in this line of work?”
“They’re destroying the reef, Stick,” he said in disgust.
She winced. “I couldn’t imagine being part of that.”
Harper sighed. “Donny showed up this morning.”
She rolled her eyes. “I ignored him while you were gone. Couldn’t take the whining.”
“I slammed the door in his face in favor of reconciliation with my plastic.”
She smirked. “Drum and I split.”
Harper couldn’t help it. His jaw hung agape. They’d had a near-perfect marriage for eight years.
“Yeah,” she said softly. “It was time.”
“Talk?”
She met his even gaze. “He’s been screwing everything above sea level. Can’t handle me being away.”
“I’m sorry, Stick. Are you going to be okay?”
“I don’t know.”
He’d never seen her forlorn and it tore at his heart. He put an arm around her and gave her a hug. She buried her face against his shoulder for a moment before withdrawing and pulling herself together. “Fucker.”
“Motherfucker,” he agreed.
“Asshole.”
“Motherfucking asshole.”
She suddenly smiled. “I knew you’d understand.”

About Heartifact
Harper Kidd is a highly respected marine archaeologist. Yet, with the economy in a slump, he’s trapped working in an oil company’s exploration division. Now, at the ripe age of thirty, Harp is disgusted with his employer’s damage to the undersea world he loves, tired of his ATM-card-filching ex, and tormented by beautiful dreams of an undersea lover. It’s time for a change and when his best friend, Stick, pleads with him to assist on a deep-sea dig in the Mediterranean, he jumps at the chance.
Harper’s spirits are high when they discover the ruins of an ancient civilization, and soar to the heavens when they discover a statue of an ancient pelora, a mysterious hybrid creature said to mediate between the worlds of reality and fantasy—and the very lover who holds the starring role in his dreams.
When the crew discovers the site is teeming with unexploded ordnance from the conflicts in the Middle East, and the excavation turns deadly, Harper must choose between saving his best friend and saving the pelora he’s fallen in love with.

About Aisling Mancy
Ash is an author who lives, most of the time, on the West Coast of the United States. Ash writes mystery thrillers, fantasy, science fiction, romance, and fiction for gay young adults as C. Kennedy.
Raised on the mean streets and back lots of Hollywood by a Yoda-look-alike grandfather, Ash doesn’t conform, doesn’t fit in, is epic awkward, and lives to perfect a deep-seated oppositional defiance disorder. In a constant state of fascination with the trivial, Ash contemplates such weighty questions as If time and space are curved, then where do all the straight people come from? When not writing, Ash can be found taming waves on western shores, pondering the nutritional value of sunsets, appreciating the much-maligned dandelion, unhooking guide ropes from stanchions, and marveling at all things ordinary. Two new releases for the holidays!
In November I'm releasing 2 books. I won't have another release until February. So check these out.
"Falling Down" is now available. I'll post a buy link in the comments below. It's a fall-themed, hurt-comfort story about a homeless youth who travels to New English to see the fall leaves and then end his life. Fate intervenes and he meets a troubled former Marine who saves them both.
"Merry Christmas, Mr. Miggles" is my Christmas story for the year (NOV 23). It's a feel-good holiday story about Toby, a small town junior librarian, who has to save his boss (Mr. Miggles) and the library's Christmas. It's a May-Dec contemporary romance with humor and a minor dollop of angst. Cover by Reese Dante. Isn't it pretty?

FALLING DOWN:
Exclusively on Amazon for the first 90 days, then generally available.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, MR. MIGGLES:

Desktop Post: Falling Down
Nov 9, 2016 is the release day for "Falling Down". This is a contemporary m/m romance set in New Hampshire in the fall. As is my tradition, this is my release day "Desktop" post, where I share images that inspired the story.
Here's the blurb:
Josh finds himself homeless at eighteen, but he has a plan. He’ll head north on the bus to New England and spend October there for his mother’s sake. She always talked about going to see the fall leaves someday. And when the leaves are done and the harsh winter comes, Josh plans to find a place to curl up and let go. It will be a relief to finally stop fighting.
Mark spent his life trying to live up to the tough swagger of his older brothers until he pushed himself so far against his nature that he cracked. Now a former Marine, he rents a little cabin in the White Mountains of New Hampshire where he can lick his wounds and figure out what to do with the rest of his life. One thing was clear: Mark was nobody’s hero.
Fate intervenes when Josh sets up camp under a covered bridge near Mark’s cabin. Mark recognizes the dead look in the young stranger’s eyes, and he feels compelled to do something about it. When Mark offers Josh a job, he never expects that he’ll be the one to fall.
The snow is coming soon. Can Mark convince Josh that the two of them can build a life together before the flurries begin?
Desktop Images:
Josh Rivers
Josh, 18, is from Alabama. He's been living on the streets for three months, having left home after his mother died. Josh was extremely close to his mom, who was a single mother for most of Josh's life. Her sudden death left Josh emotionally traumatized and without any financial or emotional support. Not seeing an easy way off the streets, or any point in trying, Josh is planning to take his own life at the begining of the book. But then he meets Mark. Josh's exterior was inspired by Adam Driver. He's very thin but has a large frame and big features.
Mark Sullivan
Mark, 24, is New Hampshire born and bred. The youngest of five boys, Mark grew up trying to emulate his macho older brothers and father and in denial about being gay. He went into the Marines to prove himself, but instead learns he can't stand combat and loathes everything about war. After being discharged , he questions his own courage and everything about himself. He's still in the closet to his family.
When I was looking for visual inspiration for Mark, the closest I found is Jeremy Renner.
Bigler's Pond
Most of the story is set at Bigler's Pond in a fictional town in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This photo was the inspiration for Bigler's pond, with its covered bridge and surrounding gold leaves in the fall.
The White Mountains
Josh decides to travel to New England to see the fall leaves since it was one of his mother's long-cherished dreams. He ends up in Gainsville, New Hampshire in the White Mountains. This is a fictional town but the area is based on Jackson, New Hampshire, pictured below.
I'm not even sure where the photo below was taken, but it still inspired me! I immersed myself in fall vibes to write this book.
Mrs. Fisher's house
Mark hires Josh to help him paint a huge old Victorian house with tons of gingerbread trim, like the house below.
Gregory Crewdson and Richard Tuschman
Josh has ambitions to be an artist (though he doesn't always admit it, even to himself). At one point in the book he thinks about a series of paintings that would have a similar feel to photos by these two photographers (whom I love).
The rescue
I had some help with my rescue/medical scenes from Claire, who is an EMT in New Hampshire. Below is a photo I found online of an emergency tent of the sort the police in the area might carry.
That's it for this desktop. Although "Falling Down" is one of the more angsty tales I've written, I tried to give it a melancholy sweetness. And of course there's an HEA!
This book will be on kindle unlimited for 90 days, then on all platforms.

"Falling Down" -- new release coming Nov 9
I have a new release coming up fast! I wanted to write a quick fall-themed novella to self-pub this fall, and I started working on the idea during the UK Meet trip while walking in the Cotswolds. But my heroes, Josh and Mark, had too much of a story to tell for it to be either quick or a "little novella". So here we are, 69K words later, just squeaking the book out for kind-of-sort-of still fall on Nov 9.
It's probably the angstyist book I've written but it has sweet moments and, of course, a happy ending. There will be a trigger warning on it for suicidal thoghts. Here's the info:

"Birth of a Calf": Guest Post
"A Second Harvest" just released today and kicked off a blog tour. Today I'm on The Novel Approaches with a guest post about the real life birth of our calf, Bessie, which inspired a scene in the book. There are some pictures of me watching the birth, so a warning to the squeamish! http://www.thenovelapproachreviews.com/guest-post-and-giveaway-a-second-harvest-by-eli-easton/
Desktop: "A Second Harvest"
July 1 2016 is the release day for "A Second Harvest". This is a new contemporary romance featuring a May-Dec couple. It's set in Lancaster County, PA, where I live, and is the first in a new series called "Men of Lancaster County". This is a stand-alone story and doesn't have a cliffhanger ending. Future books in the series will feature different couples and unconnected story lines.
Here's the blurb:
David Fisher has lived by the rules all his life. Born to a Mennonite family, he obeyed his father and took over the family farm. He married, had two children, and goes to church every Sunday. Now with his kids both in college and his wife deceased, he runs his farm alone and without joy, counting off the days of a life half-lived.
Christie Landon, graphic designer, Manhattanite, and fierce gay party boy, needs a change. Now that he’s thirty years old, he figures it’s time to grow up and think about his future. When his best friend overdoses, Christie resolves to take a break from the city and get his life back in order. His aunt left him a small house in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and he heads there to rest, recoup, and reflect.
But life in the country is boring, despite glimpses of the hunky silver fox next door. When Christie’s exuberant creativity latches on to cooking, and he started gourmet-ing up a storm, he decides to approach his widower neighbor with a plan to share meals and grocery expenses. David agrees, and soon the odd-couple find they enjoy spending time together. A lot.
Christie challenges all the boundaries of David's closed world and brings out feelings he’d buried long ago. Can he find the courage to break free of the past and take a second chance at happiness?
Desktop Images:
As is my habit on release day, I'm posting images that inspired me while I was working on this story, or images that just remind me of the story. Here we go.
David Fisher
David, 41, is a Mennonite farmer. He feels much older than he actually is, having been widowed and having two grown kids in college. He lives alone on his Pennsylvania farm and has no idea what to do with the rest of his life. Below is a stock image I found that reminded me of David.
Christie Landon
Christie, 30, is a sophisticated New Yorker and a graphic artist who works for an advertising agency. He's a rather infamous gay party boy in the Manhattan club scene until he relocates to the country temporarily to settle his late aunt's estate--and moves in next to shy, serious David. Christie is fierce, stubborn, and knows his own mind. He's also has a kind heart and is a generous and loyal friend.
The visual I had in mind for Christie is based on Max Carter, a star with Cocky Boys. Max is amazing! Look him up.
David's Farm
Well, once again, I have written our own 20 acre farm into a story. :-) Here it is with snow, like in one of the scenes in the book.
You can see more pictures of our farm in this guest post I wrote for my Amish murder mystery. David's farm is based entirely on our farm, though he has a lot more acreage of fields.
The birth of the calf
I wrote a guest post about this event with photos of me attending at our calf's birth IRL. I'll post the link here when the article goes live.
Bora Bora
David was born and raised on the Pennsylvania farm where he still lives. Being a farmer it was hard to ever get away from home to travel. So he feeds his closeted adventurer with a collection of National Geographic magazines. His favorite place in the world is Bora Bora. And eventually this makes for a rather special evening. Here are some photos from that (fictional) article on Bora Bora in David's magazine.
The Maori Exhibit
During the story, Christie takes David on a surprise trip to Philadelphia to view a travelling exhibit on the Maori of New Zealand. This was based on an actual travelling exhibit. Some pictures below.
Philadephia Art Museum
Here are some photos of the gazebo at the Philly art museum they visit, and the exterior of the grounds.
The Duplex in Brooklyn
The end of the book features a duplex in Brooklyn. Here are some reference shots I found online for the duplex.
That's it for this desktop. "A Second Harvest" is one that came from the heart. It's about finding a second chance for happiness in life. I hope you enjoy it! You can read an excerpt and find purchase links on my page for A Second Harvest.

Cover Reveal: "A Second Harvest"
Today is the cover reveal for my upcoming novel with Dreamspinner, "A Second Harvest". This is a May-Dec romance between a widowed Mennonite farmer and his new neighbor, a younger gay man. I've always loved May-Dec romances and had fun writing one for the first time. The book is due out Jul 1.

Desktop: How to Wish Upon a Star
May 12 2016 is the release day for "How to Wish Upon a Star", the third book in my "Howl at the Moon" series of paranormal romances featuring... dog shifters! Yes, dog shifters. And God, I love them to death! I can't imagine ever not wanting to return to Mad Creek and see what's going on with the pack there.
Here's the blurb for "How to Wish Upon a Star":
Dr. Jason Kunik is working on the most earth-shattering genetics project ever, DNA mapping of a new species, the quickened—dogs who can shift into human form. The problem is, no one knows the quickened exist and Jason can’t betray them by publishing his studies. When he moves to Mad Creek to continue his research in a town full of quickened, all he wants is peace, quiet, and to be allowed to bury himself in his work. Perhaps if he figures how out the mutation is activated, he can silence his own inner dog forever.
Milo is a hospice comfort dog who has bonded with, and lost, many beloved patients in his life. He intuitively understands sickness and pain on a spiritual level most can’t see. When he gains the ability to become a man, he thinks he finally has everything he ever wanted. But being a man isn’t the same thing as being loved, and taking shelter in Mad Creek isn’t the same thing as finding a home.
When a mysterious illness hits Mad Creek and threatens all the quickened in town, it’s up to the scientist and the comfort dog to figure out what it is and how to stop it. Along the way they might discover that true love is possible—if you wish upon a star.
OK, so let's get down to this book's desktop, shall we?
Here are the image that inspired me while I was writing the book. [Note, these image are off the web--I don't own them, nor were they used in the actual book.]
Milo -- Milo only recently gained the ability to change from a dog into a man, so he is very much new to this whole human business. As a dog, Milo was a comfort dog in a hospice. He spent time with, and gave unconditional love to, the dying patients and their families. Milo is a labradoodle. Here he is in his dog and human form. I imagine that in his human form he looks something like model Anthon Wellsjo.
Milo was inspired by real life therapy dogs like Baxter (from this book) and JJ (JJ's facebook page). Here are a couple of photos of them doing their amazing jobs.
Dr. Jason Kunik -- Jason was born a quickened descended from Alaskan Malamutes. Incredibly intelligent, he got his PhD and is now a geneticist fascinated by this 'new species' the quickened or, as he calls them, canis sapiens. His description in the book says that he doesn't look like any one human 'race'. His skin, hair and eye shape look Asian, but his irises are pale blue (like the ones on the dog photo below), and he has a heavier, Slavic build.
So first, here's Jason as a dog. The dark parts of his fur would be fully back, but I love the shot of this dog and he so reminds me of Jason.
Now for his human form--I think he might look something like actor Daniel Henney but with pale blue eyes and a bit beefier in the chest and arms.
Tim and Lance (from "How to Howl at the Moon") and Roman and Matt (from "How to Walk Like a Man"), all appear in "How to Wish Upon a Star". Here they are from previous desktop posts.
Tim Weston aka Tim Beaufort
Sheriff Lance Beaufort
Roman Charsguard
Human and dog form of Roman, our ex-military service dog and now town deputy.
Matt Barclay
Matt, Roman's partner, is ex-SWAT and ex-military, current forest ranger, and forever class clown.
Baby Molly Beaufort
Molly is a brand new addition to Mad Creek. With tons of black hair and vivid blue eyes, Molly looks just like a baby quickened (which is good, because she is one)!
Mad Creek
Here are some pictures I shared in the past as inspirations for Mad Creek, the town where the "Howl at the Moon" series is set. I lived for several years in Oakhurst, CA, which is up in the mountains from Fresno and on the way to Yosemite. Mad Creek is hypothetically much "farther up" in the mountains, but the town size, and general setting, was based on Oakhurst.
CASP-1 Virus
This is actually SARS below, but it inspired the look of the CASP-1 virus.
Rav Miller
The founder of the Hold My Paw dog shelter, where our intrepid heroes from Mad Creek visit.
Hold My Paw Shelter in Arizona
In the book, Jason, Milo, Tim, and Matt travel to Arizona to visit a non-profit animal shelter (for plotty reasons). The pictures below inspired the setting. This is actually a shelter called Desert Haven and it's in New Mexico.
While in Arizona, Milo does some tracking in the desert. He come across an old mining operation like the one below.
That's it for this desktop. I hope you enjoy the new story. You can read an excerpt and find purchase links on my page for How to Wish Upon a Star.
